User-Friendly App Makes Robotics Surface Treatment Accessible to Everyone
RoboTwin has integrated its smart teaching device with Wandelbots NOVA, enabling operators to teach robots by demonstrating their movements. The integration into Wandelbots NOVA allows RoboTwin to integrate their solution into more robotics systems and offers system integrators more tools to develop easy-to-teach and easy-to-use apps, improving end user experience.

Objective
Utilize Wandelbots NOVA to develop no-code programming solutions that allow users to control a wide range of robots. System integrators can build their apps for surface treatment that automatically connect to their smart teaching devices.
Solution
RoboTwin integrated their smart teaching device into Wandelbots NOVA to generate robot programs in robot-agnostic Wandelscript. This allows integrators to easily connect with various robot brands and periphery.
Collaboration
RoboTwin and Wandelbots worked closely to integrate the teaching device into the Wandelbots robot operating system. Wandelbots supported RoboTwin with technical support and testing on physical robots.
Challenges and Processes
Surface treatments such as powder coating or wet painting are typical examples of industrial tasks that are particularly affected by labor shortages, presenting a strong opportunity for robotic automation to enhance operator capabilities. RoboTwin allows operators to teach robots by tracking their motions and generating a robot program in the native OEM language. The robot-agnostic capability offered by Wandelbots NOVA support RoboTwin's growth by increasing their compatibility with various robotic systems, enabling system integrators to build surface treatment apps with seamless integration to their teaching device. This combination of a user-friendly teaching device and easy-to-use apps provides end customers with an improved experience while meeting system integrators' requests to develop their own robust and scalable UI applications.
RoboTwin used Wandelbots NOVA's API layer to easily integrate their teaching device onto the platform. Robotwin's smart teaching device allows process experts to manually demonstrate the proper spray painting movement, then together with Wandelbots NOVA, use this path to automatically generate the robot program in Wandelscript, Wandelbots' robot-agnostic programming languauge. The operator can then select the Wandelscript program, and execute it on a physical or virtual robot. This combination of a user-friendly teaching device and easy-to-use apps provides end customers with an improved experience while meeting system integrators' requests to develop their own robust and scalable UI applications.
During the POC, as Wandelbots beta testers, RoboTwin worked in the integration of both systems, and now RoboTwin users can generate programs in the robot-agnostic Wandelscript, test execution in Robotpad, and execute them on both, virtual and physical robots.
In some productions, we see a trend in controlling the robotic applications directly from various apps. That’s why we decided to become compatible with Wandelbots beside our existing interfaces to native robot OEMs such as FANUC, ABB, YASKAWA, UR, or KUKA. Our collaboration allows system integrators who build their all-in-one applications on Wandelbots NOVA to integrate our robot teaching tools into the user workflow seamlessly.

Impact & Results
RoboTwin is expecting a growth in revenue since they can now access new customers in a wider variety of markets. They also observed time savings for testing and deployment due to the robot visualisation on Robotpad.
With the outcome of this project, RoboTwin users and customers will have their UX enhanced. Additionally, Wandelbots NOVA unified environment enables a smoother onboarding of support engineers and sales reps, which are empowered with a new visualisation tool.
